We asked ourselves a question: how can we make agriculture more sustainable? Vertical Farming was the answer. This is an innovative cultivation method that uses height and the latest technology to preserve useful resources for the Planet, such as water and soil, and give our salads the true taste of nature.

In 2018, Agricola Moderna was established in a startup incubator in the centre of Milan. This innovative company was founded by Pierluigi Giuliani and Benjamin Franchetti.

In 2019, we built the first pilot facility in Melzo: 1,500 m² of laboratories, offices, research and development areas and vertical farming areas with a team of 20 people including engineers, agronomists, operators and managers.

Since 2020 we have been supplying Carrefour shops and the Cortilia e-commerce site with all our products, which reach the shelves just 24 hours after harvesting.

Today, the heart of our production beats in Agnadello, in the province of Cremona. Here we have built our new commercial facility, a state-of-the-art plant that houses the entire production chain. Once fully operational, it will cover an area of approximately 11,500 m², with a multi-level vertical cultivation surface reaching 20,000 m². The entire production will be powered 100% by renewable energy sources: biomethane and solar power.
